Privacy Policy

We collect what the game needs to work and nothing more. There are no ads, no third-party tracking scripts, and no sale of your data — analytics are first-party and used only to improve the product. You can delete your account (and the data that goes with it) yourself, at any time, from your Account page.

The data controller is GowTom, the independent developer operating Algomancer from Ireland. Contact for anything privacy-related: team@gowtom.tech.

• Account.When you sign in with GitHub we store your GitHub account ID, a username derived from your GitHub login, your display name, and your verified primary email address (used for account matters, and — only if you opt in on your account page — an occasional reminder email with your next recommended problem when you've been away from training; premium players who've onboarded with Algo get theirs personally written by him instead. We never send marketing email or sell your address, and you can turn the reminder off with one click, any time).
• Things you make in the game. The code you write and submit, solution results and grades, XP and in-game economy state, lesson progress, duel and time-trial results, co-solve whiteboards, and chat messages.
• Voice mock interviews. When you start a spoken interview, your audio is streamed to our voice-AI provider to hold the conversation. We store the transcript and the scorecard/feedback, not the raw audio.
• AI features.Content needed to help you — your code, the problem, your questions, and (if you paste one) your resume text for the coach's resume review — is sent to AI model providers to generate hints, questions, feedback, and resume suggestions. Providers process it to deliver the feature under their API terms, not for advertising, and we send only what the feature needs.
• Billing. Payments run through Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status. Your card number never touches our servers.
• Feedback you send us. The in-app feedback widget stores your message, the page it was sent from, and — only if you provide them — a reply email address and an attached image. If you delete your account, your feedback is kept in anonymized form (unlinked from you; reply address and attached images removed).
• Usage & technical. First-party analytics events (which features you use, tied to your account ID), server logs, and error reports — used for debugging, abuse prevention, and making the product better. No third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

One essential cookie: your session. It signs you in; it doesn't track you across the web. Because we use no tracking cookies, there is no cookie consent banner to click.

• Contract — running the service you signed up for (accounts, gameplay, billing, AI and voice features you invoke).
• Legitimate interests — security, abuse and cheat prevention, first-party product analytics, service monitoring.
• Legal obligation — keeping billing records for tax and accounting.

We share data only with the services that make Algomancer work:

• GitHub — sign-in (OAuth) — we never see your password
• Stripe — payments and subscription billing — card details go only to Stripe
• A voice-AI provider (US) — runs the real-time voice for spoken mock interviews
• AI model providers (US) — generate hints, interview questions, grading and feedback
• Our team's notification channel (US) — notifies us of feedback you submit (including any attached image) and of new signups
• An email provider (Microsoft, EU/US) — delivers our away-reminder emails (available to every player) and the newsletter — each a separate opt-in, we never email without one
• A cloud host (Germany) — hosts our servers and database in the EU

Stripe and the US-based providers above process data in the United States; those transfers rely on the EU-approved safeguards the providers offer (Data Privacy Framework certification and/or Standard Contractual Clauses). We never share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

For as long as your account exists. Deleting your account removes your personal data from the live database immediately; short-lived server logs and database backups age out on a fixed schedule afterwards. Billing records are retained as long as tax law requires, and your payment history remains in Stripe's records per their retention obligations.

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Deletion is self-service (Account page → Delete account); for anything else, email team@gowtom.tech and we'll respond within a month. You can also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) or your local supervisory authority.

Algomancer is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 16 to use it where your country sets 16 as the age of digital consent. We don't knowingly collect data from children; if you believe a child is using the service, contact us and we'll remove the account.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
